TEN

For me at least it's wierd and funny at the same time but I am thinking that if we ever have success in finding a property I would like to raise chickens, cows, and goats. Have a dog as a pet and perhaps a couple of cats.

As a first step Lynn and I just had built our first chicken coop. I think we spent about $10.00 on this. One side of the coop will be for native chickens and the other side for hybrid chickens both are for eating. We will also build another coop for egg laying chickens. The Native chickens are colorful and will roam the property most all day and then return back to the coop at night to eat. The Hybrid chickens which look more like chickens we have in the states will stay in the cage 24/7. Native chickens are bonier and cheaper to buy and raise and to Filipinos have a bette taste. I prefer the fatter hybrids myself maybe because I prefer white meat. Best of both worlds.

Anyway in a very short period of time we should have a continuous supply of eggs and hybrid chickens to eat. YUMMY

We also just had built a garden where we will grow initally: honey dew melon, lettuce, leek, onion, radish and cabbage. As you can see we have transformed the front of the house to serve our purposes of a carport and garden..

I should have mentioned this in an earlier narration as it has always been on my mind. There are these yellow buses here

that are driven by what only can be called crazy and completely nutso drivers even in my book. I mean I have seen them driving at over 70 miles an hour over very busy and narrow roads. They have practically blown me and my scooter off the road at least two times LOL so bottom line is you either get out of the way or you're cooked LOL. Anyway, they are known as killer buses. They got this name because of what to me can only be a story but, everyone I have talked to swears it's true. Apparently, it is cheaper to kill someone if you hit them in a vehicle rather than only injuring them seriously. This way you only pay the family a death fee instead of having what could be an endless supply of hospital bills. So apparently the driver of these killer buses upon hitting someone will get out to see how badly they are injured and if it is really serious and possibly costly to the company, they will get back into the bus and run them over again to kill them. I must be very gullible LOL

Dumaguete has two large supermarkets much like can be found in the states but about 1/2 the size. The one we prefer to shop is called HyperMart which has a larger selection of food stocks than the other one located in Lee PLaza.

HyperMarket

Here is the main strip of Dumaguete City and the only department store which is called Lee Plaza.

Thought it might be interesting to show you the one horse town we live near. It is called Bacong. Now you see it, now you don't. Good place to shop when you are desperate. Just kidding. It has some basic foodstuffs.
