Right near Ocean 101 is a surfing break called Cloud Nine. It is becoming very famous for it huge and tubular waves. The bad news is it breaks into about 3 feet depth of water so this surf spot is for the super experienced ONLY!!!
Friday March 17....Today I decided to walk the beach and do some shell collecting. I was amazed to see so many pretty shells.
Along the way I came to a property owned by the brother of a previous Governor of Surigao Del Norte which Siargao is a part of. On his property he had a huge cage with 6 Eagles. They looked pretty happy even in the limited space of the cage. The caretaker fed them a good diet of fish and meal so they were cwertainly well maintained.The disturbing thing is I found out they can be purchased just a few KM down the road for about $50.00 USD each. I guess that is one way to preserve the species. I mean the Philippine Eagle (one of the 3 eagles in the cage) is the NATIONAL bird of the Philippines. I guess nothing is sacred when you can go down to the local market and buy one. Guess wha? I will be buying them as well. Oh, they also had a incredibly colorful bird I don't know the name of and you can buy that one for about $15.00 USD
