FORTY ONE

August 17 - Yesterday Lynn we went to Dr. Flores her current OBGYN as this is the end of Lynn's first Trimester. Upon examining Lynn she had trouble hearing Alex's heart beat. Lynn's stomach was growling too much so she said we needed to have an Ultrasound which she then arranged for a short time later. Well, I am excited to announce that we have a person with a good heartbeat growing inside Lynn and everything else appears to be proceeding just fine. The only outstanding thing is we won't know the sex of ALEX until perhaps the fourth or possibly the fifth month and at that time we will also try to have questions answered about any potential genetic disorders as we plan a trip to Manila to have the tests done there.

Here are the first looks of ALEX at the end of the first trimester.

For all you costing buffs out there planning a baby here of your own LOL the Ultrasound cost us 500 pesos or $10.87.

August 19 - For about the last week, I have been having what is called a Lupus Flare. This is usually brought on by high levels of stress causing inflammation which is measured through a blood test and a resulting ESR reading (ESR stands for erythrocyte sedementation rate, basically they put your blood in a tube and measure how many mm of sedement there is after 1 hour) . In my case my ESR reading is very high at 48mm. Normal range in a man is 0 - 9mm. I have also heard that an ESR representing half a persons age is also acceptable. I seem to excel at getting these flares from time to time living in this peaceful stress free country LOL. This time I attribute it to problems yet again at our trying to aquire a property, playing lousy golf and of course Lynn and the pregnancy which stresses me because I never had a baby before and want to make sure all goes well. Anyway, the result of this is I get horribly bad pains and I have to take higher dosages of anti-inflammatory medicine. In my case the Steroidal medicine Medrol and the side effects of this medicine makes me more irritable and gives more stress so it can be a merry go-round of sorts. I am now trying breathing excercises, having talks with myself and sleeping by 8:00 pm and even taking naps during the day. I have taken to walking on the waterfront Rizal boulevard jogging/walking walkway.

I have even tried going back to parting my hair on the side instead of combing it straight back as I've had it for years. I figure this way I can look younger and convince myself I am not a cranky Old Man. I also put one of me with a hat on which might be best of all LOL Which do you think looks better of the three?

We also have a series for Joe. He has some of the thickest hair I have ever felt. One shot is of it natural, one combed down and finally with hats.
