FORTY SEVEN September 11 - I got to thinking today about the future for me and my family. I came to the realization that perhaps Dumaguete is not the best place for us to live. This will be the second time I have come to this conclusion. No I am not going crazy. The fact is I once again have to consider that during this 2nd go-around living here we have had no luck in buying a property even after we promised to have a more aggressive searching effort this time. We did find something great but it is very expensive and too many issues are still unresolved that could come back to bite us. I think the signs are obvious.......LEAVE!!!. Therefore, I have more or less come to the conclusion and decision that what is best for this family is we should move to Davao after Alex is born and Joe is finished with his school year. We figure March. I was reluctant to do this before as I was afraid Lynn might get too involved with her charitable work there and spend too much time away from me but now I know this won't be a factor and we can continue to have a great relationship in Davao. The main reasons are as follows: 1. Davao is Lynn's home and where most of her family is located. In all honesty, they will be great to have around Alex to give her additional love and affection. Lynn also understands and accepts that we need to have our privacy and will make sure that happens. She also promises not to get back involved full time with charitable efforts that will take time quality time away from me, Joe and Alex. 2. On Samal Island (a beautiful island just off the City of Davao) we have a beautiful 2.6 hectare overlooking beach property with great views of the city on which we can build our dream house and infinity pool in which to raise Alex. The best of both worlds. Solitude on Samal and a bustling city Davao just minutes away by ro-ro Barge. 3. We will have our own driver. I like this idea as Davao is a very large city and driving there can be stressful so being driven as well as having someone to keep the car clean everyday is a big plus.
3. I can join a real Gym (I hear there is a great one at the Marco Polo Hotel for $155 year) and a quality golf course I can join and play whenever. The water around Samal Island is very clean and offers wonderful diving and fishing on all sides of the Island as well as the rest of the waters around Davao. When I come to think about it.....This is what I came to the country for: To Golf, Dive, Fish, Surf and to meet a wonderful woman to settle down with. All of this can now come true including the best gift of all, a baby (my first). So again we must get a container to ship our personal stuff. This time to Davao. The van we will ship to Cagayan De Oro and then drive it to Davao. September 12 - Today we went to have another ultrasound as Lynn will be five months on Saturday. Since I will be leaving for Italy on Sunday, I wanted to get a new set of ultrasound images while I was still here with the hope of finding out the babies gender before I leave.
AND IT'S A...........
MYSTERY... STILL!!! I guess we will have to wait to find out until month 6 when we go to Manila on the 18th of October. Lynn is going to go to Davao this Sunday to coordinate with her sister in preparing her city house for our arrival in March. Some maintenance and improvements need to be made. I am actually looking forward to going there and I feel strongly this will be a great place for us to live. 2005
