FIFTY NINE January 26 - Joe finished his last remaining open water dives required to get his Open Water Diver Certification. We went to Apo island which is a dive sanctuary and considered one of the best places to dive in the Philippines. Now all he needs is to pass his test and he'll get his Open Water Dive Certification Card. Joe Passed his test on Feb 4th. I now have a dive buddy.
January 28 - Went to see Dr. Tan today (every Monday now) and she felt confident in saying we should be looking at Alex's delivery no later than this Friday, Feb 1st for a total of 38 full weeks. Last Monday the 21st she thought it might have happened by this past Friday but wasn't positive (despite a 3cm reading) but now she is more confident about this week. She was able to put one finger into Lynn and I guess that means it is opening slightly. Lynn is also having some signs of labor pains. I feel so bad for her as last night she barely slept as Alex was kicking the crap out of her. Alex's movements reminded me of the movie Aliens when you see the crew members stomach moving all about and then pops out the creature. Back to reality.....I personally am glad of a probable delivery this week as I have already been programmed for it however my gut is telling me it won't happen until the early part of next week sometime around the 4th or 5th. If you can believe it, Lynn has only gained about 18 pounds total. Most women at this point would have gained at least 30 - 35. Dr. has no explanation except to say Lynn is very small framed and the baby should be about 5.5 - 6 pounds and appears to be doing just fine. January 31 - I am kinda glad to be away from the States right now especially with the Presidential primaries going on. As a Democrat I have two candidates to consider. The experienced Washington insider Clinton or the relatively inexperienced but refreshing Obama. I really do love what Obama has to say and he does talk openly, frankly and spontaneously unlike most other politicians and I admit he makes me feel good. Probably the whole point!!! On the other side you get the experienced savvy politician with Hillary and a former much loved President as her close advisor. I like that and even though they are a controversial former first family they still know from the very inside out, the world of Politics and don't have a learning curve like the one Obama faces. I just don't know. In all honestly I think Obama is being very naive thinking he can have a successful Presidency based on being open, frank, honest, candid and spontaneous. Kennedy Like. And I don't really understand this notion of comparing him to Kennedy who frankly sucked as President in the very short time he was in that position. He almost got us into WWIII with the Russians starting with a little fiasco called the "Bay of Pigs" and then closing with the Cuban Missile crisis. I think that was the order. And then of course continuing the war footing work Eisenhower set in motion in a place called Vietnam. And let's not forget the rest of the time he spent trying to fuck various starlets of Hollywood. Camelot or Camelsquat, I just don't know. I guess I don't have to worry now as I missed the voting in Florida and the chance to voice my opinion. I am leaning to Clinton as she can step right in to the job with absolutely no learning curve and with her experience get things done while still effectively playing the game of Politics. Obama in my opinion will be eaten alive and won't be an effective President without sucking up to Congress and playing the game he detests and wants changed. In time yes he will be good but for a good long time it will be a very uphill battle. February 1 - While we were sitting in Dr. Tans office Lynn had me in stitches while recounting her first trip to Canada in the early 90's. We were both in tears laughing so hard. It's hard to relay them in such a spontaneous way but one involved her making 5lb's of Spaghetti as an actual dessert the first time she cooked for her Canadian boyfriend's family and wanted to make a good impression. The other was the time she put a metal bowl and stainless silverware in the microwave and almost blew it up. She was watching it all the time it was on the verge of exploding thinking what an strange way to heat food up. The third thing was when her boyfriend came home from a hunting trip and was covered in Blood and she panicked and called 911 thinking he had just gotten shot. Finally today after the exam she told me her constructions were coming more frequently and she may deliver by Tuesday. Oh and at breakfast she commented that I was having my eggs sunny upside down. I really love this woman always with a smile and laughter. 2005
