SIXTY EIGHT

March 15 - So we got into davao around 4pm and instead of heading to Bucanna where I thought we would be living we went to Rosalina to the house of Lynn's sister Charmane. The house is located in a low-end subdivision. The house was small but comfortable.

Leah, Sandy, Charmane, Alex, Jane(gin-gin), Lynn

Charmane lives there with her Daughter Sandy, her helper and her Seaman husband (when he is not at sea. He is now). Greeting us there was Lynn's other sister Leah and adopted niece Gin-Gin who would become Alex's Yaya. We ended up staying at Charmanes for 3 days. During our stay we visited downtown Davao City, SM Mall and other places of interest. I also found out (joke on me) that there was never any intention of us moving to Bucanna as this was a dangerous place for a white man to be staying even under the protection of Lynn. On a sad note which demonstrates no matter where you are in the world there are the same family problems and issues. The fact is we didn't leave Charmanes house voluntarily, she asked us to leave. Turns out Charmane was embarrassed by the fact Lynn now had a second baby out of wedlock and she didn't want (can you believe this crap) her HUSBANDS Family to find out about Alex. As you can imagine we won't be socializing with Charmane anytime soon unless an apology is given. Lynn who is so kind and giving to her family has this kind of asshole for a sister. Sad indeed.

March 18 - Back to the housing situation. Instead of moving to Bucanna, as my good fortune would have it, Lynn as it turns out two years ago smartly purchased two houses in a more upscale subdivision called Solareiga.

House #2 - Where We Live

House #1 - Rented Out

This subdivision caters more to middle class Filipinos. These developments are fast becoming a very good business and many of them catering to this market group (which includes the millions of OFW's - Offshore Foreign Workers) are sprouting up all over the country. BTW, there are also a number of Foreigners living here as well. Lynn has her second house rented for three years now at 22,000 peso monthly which gives her a net return of 15% annually based on her purchase price. With the current level of the dollar, these build to order houses of about 900 to 1500 square feet now sell for between $40,000 to $120,000. I think even with the rental income of 7% at current prices they are still way overpriced as the quality of construction and finish is embarassingly poor. However, two years ago when Lynn purchased them, they cost $20,000 to $60,000 based on the dollar at that time which I would say was a fair price for what you get. Nevertheless they are what they are and frankly I am very comfortable staying here and have no complaints whatsover LOL. Of course I will be making some minor comfort improvements ha ha ha. BEST OF ALL is the location which is only 2/10th's of a kilometer from APO Golf Course YEA!!. BTW, here is a view of the 18th green and fairway from the clubhouse.

We moved here on Tuesday March 18th.

I am loving Alex more and more everyday. I can't stop kissing that biteable face of hers.
