SEVENTY April 2 - Tomorrow morning Lorenzo will bring us the container to load. In the afternoon Joe and I will head off to Cebu by Ceres Bus. We have a direct flight to Siargao at 1pm on Friday where we will spend 5 days. I am looking forward to this trip with him. It will give us a chance to bond some more and he will also have a chance to see and spend time with his adventurous Uncle who stays on our property on the Island. I also hope to find a builder to start building a house on our lot. We will be staying at our usual place, Ocean 101 which is also not to far from our lot. Lynn on the other hand is not feeling too well so she will stay in Dumaguete until she feels better. I hope she feels good enough by tomorrow and will travel with us to Cebu. She can then catch a plane to Davao on Friday. April 3 - 5 Lorenzo showed up at about 10:00am and we began to load the container with me acting as director. Here is a look at the area in front of our place. As you can see it is loaded with stuff to be put on the container. For the record I am not as big as I appear in the photo. My T-shirt is sticking way out and I have on baggy shorts. All went extremely well and we were able to pack it pretty tightly and organized leaving room for the golf cart we will be picking up in Manila.
We finished about 1pm and went to Why Not to have some lunch and catch a ride to Sibulan where we would catch the fast craft to Lilloan where we would catch a bus to Cebu. Here is my last photo of the sea from Why Not on the boulevard. For the second time we are leaving this placed called the "City of Gentle People".
Turns out Lynn was feeling well enough to come which made both Joe and myself very happy. We left Why Not about 3:00pm and got a pedicab to take us to the boat in Sibulan. Just before the Airport a passenger van hit us and turned us sideways. Turns out the idiot driver did not have any front brakes and was yelling his way down the road hoping people would get out of his way. I am just glad nothing bad hapened to us and more importantly Alex. Perhaps this was a sign of the bad luck to come. We were able to catch the Fast Craft and lucky for us found a private car to take us to Cebu and Eddies hotel where we would spend the night. We got in about 7:00pm tired but relieved to be out of Dumaguete and for Joe and I the first step of an adventure in Siargao. Wait hold the horses. When I asked Lynn to give me the 100,000 pesos I would be bringing to Siargao to start the house building process on our lot there she said she didn't have it and we would just go to the ATM on Friday to get it. Well as it turns out I apparently misplaced the ATM card somewhere during the trip out of Dumaguete to Cebu. I specifically had asked Lynn to get the money in advance so as not to depend on the ATM. She said not to worry as we would just go to the bank before our flight to Siargao and get it. NOT!!! turns out her banker wasn't in in Davao so we couldn't get a confirmation letter so we didn't get the money so Joe and I missed the only plane for a week to Siargao. The next day Saturday we got enough money to go but this time we all boarded a plane to Davao. Oh and I should mention I had to wait 8 hours after Lynn Joe and Alex as there was no room on their plane. It looks like on the way back from Manila I will go to Siargao alone for a few days. What the heck. I hope Joe can meet me in Cebu for the flight to Siargao from there. April 8 - Lynn and I paid a visit to Samal today to see the property and tour the Island. Since the time we purchased it we have also discussed desiging the place so that it can be easily converted into a luxury resort. Part of that will be the need to offer diving, fishing and other water sports which will require access to the Davao Gulf. Presently during low tide there is no access. So the plan is to dredge an area fronting the beach of about 100 x 30 feet to create a channel so we can navigate watercraft in and out. It really makes no sense to have a beach property if you can't swim out from your beach. It will also be better for the environment serving as an area for fish to congregate. As a further thought we might decide to enlarge it even more. The thought being we could have both a nice beach swimming area as well as a place for us to possibly crete a small marina in the future.
