SEVENTY FOUR

April 30 - Not much new to report. Our time back has been spent getting settled and waiting for the container to arrive which we have learned is this Monday the 5th of May. I finally was able to do my MRI yesterday and it was not fun. I hope it reveals what may be unhibiting my short term memory. I should know in a week or so.

I am finally playing golf and the good news is I have been told by caddies and other players that I could be a single digit handicap in short order. Perhaps in a month if I can just adhere to some minor but important corrections on my swing. I will be taking some lessons beginning tommorow to make this happen. How nice it would be to play golf really good after all these years.

Alex is doing great and we will be taking her to the Pediatrician next week for her monthly visit. She is smiling more and more and I am enjoying her more and more.

One of the great things here in the Philippines as I have mentioned countless times before, is having a helper or Yaya (one who takes care of children). In Dumaguete we had Blynda but now we have Heidi and she is the best of all worlds. Heidi not only cares for Alex but also cleans house and cooks. This is not a burden on her and she actually prefers it this way to not doing anything when Alex is sleeping. Also, we usually have others at the house to look after Alex if Heidi is busy. We pay her well and give her Saturday and Sunday off. This is very unusual as most work 6 days in this country. It is our plan to bring Rose to the USA and Canada in the Summer to look after Alex and then Joe when he goes to school in Toronto.

May 1 - Today I started my golf lessons with a pro named Pabling.

He is charging me 300P an hour or about $7.25. He is tough but knows what he is talking about. He has made some small but dramatic changes and improvements to my Woods and Iron swing. Before I was basically scooping the balls with a more or less vertical type backswing and now I amswinging the club more out behind my back before coming down through the ball. The result is much more distance and more centered hits versus my slice of before. It is not easy and I will have to hit many thousands of balls on the range to make it habit but I know the outcome will result in my finally becoming a golfer. I have actually hit some balls off my driver to the tune of about 300 yards. No Bull!!! Now I have to put it into motion on the golf course.
