SEVENTY FIVE

May 3 - Today Alexandra received her United States Passport. Absolutely amazing to think that a little over two weeks ago (May 16) we applied for her Citizenship and Passport and here it is. One thing I do love and REALLY miss about the USA is EFFICIENCY. I swear to something that sometimes I am convinced half the people in this country are complete idiots. The other half are all OFW's (Offshore Foreign Workers) obviously working outside the Philippines and have grown brains due too efficiencies learned abroad LOL

But I shouldn't speak too soon. Today I was surely a candidate for the Idiots Hall of Fame. The other day I purchased a filing cabinet. I brought it home and then proceeded to buy 12 hanging file folders. I got them home and then tried to hang them in the cabinet using the rails on the top part of the left and right side of the drawers. Guess what!. They didn't fit!!! I couldn't believe the total stupidity of the manufacturer to put in a rail system that was not able to support a common legal size Pendaflex Hanging Folder. So I then measured the distance apart of the rails and took note and then went out to buy some other brands hoping that theirs might be a little wider at the point where the hanging dudads are located on the folders. Of course I forgot to bring my measuring tape so I had to of course buy the two other brand folders and bring them home to see if they would work. So I get home and guess what? They don't fit either. I am now beside myself. This stupid fucking country. Now I am pissed so I decide to bring the fucking cabinet back to the store for an exchange to hopefully a non-defective cabinet.

Now mind you this is now four days later with at least three of them spent on folder buying missions and who knows how much time and gas spent. So I carry the cabinet down the house stairs and place it in the back of the van and then head to the store. I get to the store and get some of the clerks to carry it into the store. I then demand to see the manager who I do and proceed to tell him my sad story. We then go back to the office furniture section and look at some other file cabinets to make a comparison with. Oh this time I was smart and brought three different brand folders. I wasn't going to miss anything ha ha ha. So we try to hang the folders in these other cabinets and low and behold they don't fit either. AH HA!! But then we notice in the bottom of one of the draws these long plastic RAIL looking things and wonder what they might be. The manager got it right away. He probably has a higher IQ than I do LOL He immediately saw that these rail looking things were ACTUALLY RAILS that went on the top-side of the drawers. I had seen them loose in my cabinet as well but had no clue what they were and brushed them aside in my brain. Anyway, my rails were black and the ones I saw were white so it seemed logical to me they were in my cabinet by mistake whatever they were. So you see the rails on all the cabinets including mine were actually removable and made of plastic in both black and white colors. The high Average IQ that I am thought they were metal and permanently attached to the drawers ha ha ha. The ones we found had the rails closer to the inside part drawer which would allow the folders to fit and hang properly. I could not believe it. I went to my cabinet and realized I could remove my rails all along and low and behold the correct rails (even though they were white) were inside my cabinet all along. I was so embarrassed and immediately put the cabinet back into the van and drove back home. Lynn was cracking up when I got back.

May 6 - 8 Today the container was finally delivered. The truckers were great enough to help us to unload everything and we got it all placed in a couple of hours. We then spent the next couple of days unloading boxes. I finally have been able to get all my artwork on the walls and I am happy onmce again to see them. I only got to see about 50% of the art in our place in Dumaguete.

May 8 - Went to see the Dentist today. Joe came as well to remove his Wisdom teeth and to get measured for braces. He has one of the great smiles I have ever seen and it will be even nicer once he gets his braces off in a couple of years. They were only able to remove one of Joes Wisdom tooth and they determined they could not remove two of the bottom ones as they were too hard now. So they will remove the remaining upper in about five days. I on the other hand got remeasured for my cap and that should be ready by Tuesday the 11th.
