SEVENTY EIGHT May 17 - Lynn and I went to Samal today with Engineer JoJo and Architect Jake who are with a company we are strongly considering to build our Samal Complex. The following two photos are of the car line waitiing to board the ferry and the ferry itself. We had to wait two for two more ferries (about 30 minutes) after this one but this was one of those beautiful Saturday mornings thus the extra heavy traffic to the island.
The plan to build a bridge to the Island is now getting very serious Feasibility studies are now underway and there is a good chance the bridge should be completed in about 5 years or less. Apparently a number of foreign development companies see incredible opportunity with Samal as a retirement mecca and are willing to build a bridge with their own funds to be able to pursue this direction. Aready sub-divions are being planned and built. There is a marina going up on the north side of the island built by the company that now operates the ferry's to the island. I only hope that the environment won't be too foresaken for progress. We have 6.5 acres and 6 of those acres are ripe for a sub-division. We have already determined that the elevation is high enough that potential houses will have views of the sea. We of course will keep the 1/2 acre lot right on the sea. The following images are a fairly close idea of the style of house we plan to build. It will face the sea and city of Davao thus the reason for mostly glass. I had originally asked Marcello to do some renderings and thanks to him I was able to get to this which is close to but still not the final. However, the design style is right on target. The blueprint is closer to what I have in mind for the first floor.
Here is a video I took of our Samal Beach property where the house will sit fronted by an infinity pool and two guest houses on either side of the pool followed by a beautiful view of the sea and Davao City. As you can also see, it is low tide and there are many rocks sticking out. Hardly an inviting beach scene. Our plan is to escavate all the rocks down to the sand beneath. This will provide about 42,000 sq feet of deep clean water ranging from 5' to 10' depth depending on the tide. The beach will be cleaned upand I will have a dock built for an eventual outboard boat I also plan to build in Cebu. I am also considering puttiong in a boat ramp from the road which would allow other boat owners for a fee, to launch their own boats. In time I also plan to put in the same water area a small articiifical reef (made of ???, I need to research) to attrack some small sea creatures and provde some snorkeling adventures. Remember I mentioned before that the idea is to build a home that can easily be converted into a high class boutique resort."Casa Alexandra". There will be four bedrooms in the main house and two in each guest house for a total of eight. Please
give the video time to load 2005
