EIGHTY FOUR May 30 - Nothing much new to report. Here are latest photos of our baby Alex.
June 6 - I don't think I mentioned it previously but, when I was living in dumaguete I participated on the Dumaguete forum. This was an Internet discussion forum about the city of Dumaguete and there were numerous participants contributing to or seeking information from the site. One of the active participants was a guy named Sheldon who as it turns out runs an Internet site/travel business that specializes in diving destinations all around Southeast Asia. Sheldon spends about half the year in Thailand (Phuket) as well as diving around Southeast Asia. The other half he spends in South Africa and surrounding countries. To make a long story short we became allies in a battle on the Forum with another participant and through this Sheldon and I became friends of sort but not yet having met in person. Sheldon is also vehemently anti-religion as I am so that was another common basis for a friendship. Anyway, I heard from him just this past May and he told me he was coming to the Philippines to see his girlfriend Marjorie (she lives in Dumaguete). He mentioned it would be great to get together and possibly do some diving. I told him I had relocated to Davao so he decided he would come here to see me. I was planning a trip to Siargao in mid June so suggested perhaps he and Marjorie would like to come with us up there for a few days and then after that come back to Davao for some diving. Marjorie also needed to do some open water dives for her certification. He agreed. I knew it would be relaxing and we could get to know each other better on Siargao. Today I picked Sheldon up at Davao Airport along with Marjorie Sheldon stands a gangly 6'6" and looks to be starving to death (must be from his vegetarianism). Marjorie is a typical 5 footer or so Fillipina.
On the trip was Myself, Lynn, Joe, Joe's cousin Bambi and the Yaya. Believe it or not we all fit
in the Starex quite comfortably and started on the drive up to Surigao the jump off point to Siargao. I was really looking forward to getting back there as I really wanted to see the improvements to the property and also put into action plans to build a house. The trip went smoothl and we got to Surigao in about 6 hours (1:00pm). I enjoyed the conversation with Sheldon and found him to be very knowledgeable and overall good company. He is actually more serious than I am and seems to be totally without humor. He can't tell a story worth a shit either just like me. In any event I like the guy. LOL. Unfortunately, we missed the boat so we had to stay the night and would catch the 6:00am boat to Siargao the next morning. June 7 - We left the hotel this morning at around 5:00am. The boat was leaving at 6:00am but in order to get a good seat if you can call that even possible, we had to be on board by 5:00am. Even then me, Sheldon and Lynn were left to take our chances on deck.
