EIGHTY FIVE

We arrived in Dapa, Siargao around 8:30 and boarded a van for the 20 minute ride to Ocean 101 resort. This is the place I last stayed with Lynn and is operated by Australian Mike, his wife and four kids.

After getting setteld in, the first thing I did was head down to our property to see what was new. As you might recall my mentioning way back in the blog, I had Lynn have her brother remove rocks from the beach. That was two years ago and we hadn't been back since. The funny part is when we first saw and subsequently bought the property it was during the high tide so I thought the rocks I had Lynn's brother remove would make the beach look cleaner and I could go for nice swims without smashing my toes and feet. Well was I in for a rude awakening. The fact is, I had actually never seen the beach or water during the low tide.

The picture below shows it as I saw it the first time on the high tide and with all the rocks I wanted removed. The 3 lower pictures show it during the low tide. A slight difference don't you think LOL.The idea of removing the rocks seems so funny and ridiculous in retrospect.

High Tide

I actually could not believe how far out and how much rock was exposed. I mean you could literally walk out the entire distance of about 1/4 mile to the reef during this low tide. No matter, even with this rude awakening I was happy and couldn't wait to start building. One thing that was very exciting was Lynn had a wall built surrounding the proiperty. It is very tastefully done and I was very happy with the surprise.

During the course of this trip we managed to meet with some builders regarding the property and before we left we gave them money to Remove about 15 trees, 32 stumps, level the entire 3300sqm lot and paint the wall white. When we return back to Siargao early next year, I plan to finally build a house. In fact when we get back to Davao I will be seeing JoJo to do the actual building plans. I would like a two bedroom house with a living room and kitchen. All facing the water. I will also be putting in a storage building to hold all my diving and fishing equipments.
