EIGHTY SEVEN June 10 - We left Siargao this afternoon with the idea of heading back to Davao. Sheldon mentioned that he and Marjorie would instead be going in the opposite direction to a resort called Buka Bay. At the last minute I thought why not go there as well and we could return to Davao a couple of days later. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get to Buka Bay however, when we got there there was a misunderstanding about the rate we ere to get to stay there. (we actually went there on a referral from the nephew of the Owner). The nephew said we would be getting a discount but that was not to be. We then left to go to another resort another 30 minutes down the road. Unfortunately, a problem arose at this new place as well. Turns out we didn't have any money left so the resort would not allow us to stay even with the promise we would get the money the next day. I refused to let Sheldon put up a guarantee for the money so we we left and headed to Cagayan De Oro. Sheldon and Marjorie stayed behind at the resort where it turns out they stayed for about 5 days. June 11- Today we left Cagayan De Oro for Davao. Just out of town we stopped by the Del Monte golf club where we heard they served up steaks in the "Clubhouse Restaurant" that went well over one kilo. The other cool thing was the cows were also fed pineapple in addition to grain so it would make the meat taste sweeter. I ordered the Sirloin. Sorry to say but it didn't rate in my book. First off they didn't have the large size so I got what I think was a 12oz (for $10.00 dollars). It was only a 1/4 inch thick and gray looking. Bottom line IT SUCKED!!! I think you would have to live in this country a very long time to consider this good meat. I still have the taste in my mount from my own awesome tasting grilled steaks from Costco and I will be having them again in a few short months when we go to the states.
June 13 - Here are some photos of Alex at four months. All were taken during our recent trip to Siargao. Alex is attempting to talk more and is using her hands better in grabbing things. She is so much joy to be with.
